Poker: 5 Tips to Shoot Your Productivity through the Roof
Feel like your productivity is just getting worse and weaker?
Worry not, because I was in your same shoes some time ago. Poker is fascinating yet it can be mentally and emotionally draining, and this can make your productivity succumb in no time.
According to the WPT there are more than 100 million poker players worldwide, but the sad truth is that the majority of them are bad and unproductive. And I’m pretty sure that you don’t want to belong to that group… to the contrary: you want to be part of the club of the winners.
If so, then be my guest and enjoy this article that will share with you 5 tips to shoot your productivity through the roof!
#1 – Have a Clear and Defined Vision:
Playing poker just for the sake of playing it and earning money is not enough to be considered as a vision, and even worse, it is very hard to find motivation in such a vague and cold thing.
What do you want to accomplish with the money you earn from poker? You need to learn to love playing poker, but it is also important to make it very clear what you want to do with the money you get.
Have a clear vision that allows you to feed your motivation, because if you don’t know where you are headed, then you will end up failing at the end of the day.
#2 – Care about Your Health:
“But what does this have to do with playing poker” – far more than you realize!
How can you be productive if your health is deteriorating and in a very weak state? I know there are very slim and overweight poker players, but the exception doesn’t make the rule: in order to be productive your health needs to be at its best.
Eating a healthy diet and doing exercise will make your mind sharper, and hence, allow you to remain more alert, take better decision and even more important keep your emotions under control.
Start taking care about your health and see how your productivity goes through the roof!
#3 – Create a Dedicated Workspace:
Poker is a serious job, and hence you need to dedicate your time to it and as well its own workspace. In simpler words: you need to keep distractions away. Everything must be focused on poker, period.
It is impossible to be productive and remain focused if you are constantly distracted. Therefore, set up this workspace as soon as possible.
Having ergonomic furniture also helps, because you are likely to spend plenty of time at the computer. This is the price you need to pay for earning money from poker, but hey, if you like it then you will love the hassle 😉
#4 – Get a Great Poker Partner:
Like everything in life, it is always better to have someone standing by your side, someone who can keep you accountable. God bless poker partners, and the good news is that thanks to the internet finding the right one is much easier.
You can find poker partners in forums. Make sure you both get along, and I can tell you from my personal experience that this will help you to remain accountable, it will motivate you and thus increase your productivity.
#5 – Write Down Your Goals and Daydream:
You need to write down your goals. That’s why having a whiteboard at home is one of the smartest investments you can make.
Make your goals clear and write them down, always look at them and evaluate if you are getting closer to them. It can be hitting a certain $$$$ mark per month, improving in a certain aspect (poker math, control of emotions, reading poker strategy, etc.).
Whatever it is, just make sure to write it down and check it daily. This will boost your productivity like you have no idea!
